Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not-for-Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability, and Early Childhood Education.

Position Purpose The position of Targeted Care Package - Youth Worker is based in the Extended Community Care team. The position supports young people to improve their wellbeing, feel empowered, build resilience, and increase their independence. The position requires someone who is a positive role model, a mentor, and a strong advocate. The Extended Community Care team operates a 24-hour service, with typical hours from 9 am – 5:06 pm Monday to Friday; however, there will be times when hours need to be flexible in accordance with young people's needs.
Key Selection Criteria Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local Community. An understanding of the social and political issues impacting young people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness. Demonstrated capacity to deliver culturally sensitive practices in working with young people. A commitment and ability to create strong links with appropriate services and networks and an understanding and knowledge of the available resources in Gippsland. An understanding of team responsibilities and dynamics, and the skills required to support and encourage team members. Demonstrated ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and also work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. An ability to put personal opinions and beliefs aside and assist clients with their issues and needs, however conflicting they may be to your own views/opinions and beliefs. Knowledge in working with young people, particularly those with complex behaviours.
