Description Job Summary: Works with the perioperative team, under the supervision of the nursing staff, in providing safe and effective care to the surgical patient.
Is responsible for maintaining instrumentation, maintaining equipment, stocking of supplies, cleaning of the department, and coordinating cleaning/preparation/sterilization of instrumentation in the Sterile Processing department.

Job Responsibilities: Supports patient's rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical, and religious diversity. Provides age-appropriate and population-specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate, and efficient manner. Exhibits responsibility for departmental and personal work schedules. Maintains current knowledge of Anderson Surgery Center policies and procedures. Conducts self in a professional manner. Demonstrates principles of surgical aseptic technique by following policies and procedures. Engages in activities to expand and enhance the professional role, including integration of research and evidence-based practice. Performs patient care in a safe and effective manner. Sets up operating rooms with equipment and supplies for procedures according to physician's preference cards. Facilitates interventions in accordance with the patient's established plan of care. Follows policies for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of scopes and instruments. Follows policies for environmental cleaning and housekeeping. Manages supply inventory within the Anderson Surgery Center. Stocks patient rooms daily to assure necessary supplies are available. Works with the perioperative team to maintain provider preference cards. Cross-trains as needed within other areas of the Anderson Surgery Center. Other duties may be assigned by the Surgery Center Director as necessary. Qualifications Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
Surgical Technology diploma from an accredited program or documented on-the-job training.
Certification/Licensure: CPR Certification from American Heart Association.
Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
Experience Requirements: One year surgical technician experience preferred.
Working Conditions: Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
Physical Activity: Lift/Carry, Push/Pull, Climb, Squat/Bend/Kneel, Sit, Stand, Walk/Move About: All required as needed.
