DescriptionABOUT US Activated Concepts is a community-based specialist clinical provider in the mental health and NDIS space.
We also offer a variety of other services, including but not limited to, family support services and clinical training.
We are highly regarded for our leadership in trauma-informed practice, and have partnerships with NSW Health, the NSW Department of Justice, the University of Newcastle, and large employee assistance providers.
PRIMARY PURPOSE Activated Support Workers provide trauma-informed, and person-centered care to participants to support them live a fulfilling and meaningful life in their own community.
They have a sound understanding of psychosocial disabilities and see people in their context.
They work with youth, people with a disability, and others to achieve their individual goals, dreams, and aspirations as well as enhance the individual's participation in the community.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Providing trauma-informed care and support, including social and community participation and skill development activitiesImplementing programs to support participants to grow their living skills and abilities so they are more able to make decisions affecting their lives and live as independently as possibleProvide person-centered care, listening and responding to participants with activities and life outcomes they would like to achieveHandle complex or challenging situations or behaviours calmly and rationallySupport the rights, interests, and needs of people with disabilityMaintain the participant's privacy and confidentialityMaintain a Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Check, First Aid/CPR Certificate, and a clear Criminal Record.ABOUT YOU You're a passionate, empathetic, and caring individual who has experience (or learning about) working with people with a disabilityYou are looking to make an invaluable positive impact on the lives of othersPassionate about human rights and positive change.You're calm, collected, and resilient in the face of adversity and are looking to carry these qualities with you to the front line to support your participants and their familiesYou are an independent, proactive thinker and worker but are also able to follow direction/s given by your managers and can work within a tight-knit teamYou have good organisational and time management skillsYou have a good understanding of professional ethics.You love to learn and want to keep your knowledge contemporary.SELECTION CRITERIA Understanding of, or interest in, trauma-informed care, mental health, and disabilitiesClear and effective communication skills and the ability to establish a professional relationship with participant and their familiesAvailability to work 3-5 days across a 7 day work week (including weekends and public holidays), from 6am – 9pm.Attention to detail and accuracy in the record managementFlexibility to work over a roster or attend training or meetings as requiredUnderstanding and commitment to confidentiality legislation and discretionCurrent valid Australian driver's license and a registered vehicle with comprehensive insuranceREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate - prior to commencementNDIS Worker Screening Check - prior to commencementNSW Working with Children Check - prior to commencementNDIS Orientation Certificate - prior to commencementOCG Child Safe Training - prior to commencementAt Activated Concepts, we don't just accept difference — we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our employees, our services, and our community.
