Your Role as a Support Specialist: As part of the Children, Youth and Families team, you will provide tailored, high-quality support to children, young people, families, and foster/kinship carers. This dynamic role involves planning, facilitating, and evaluating educational and therapeutic programs, offering case management, and creating culturally inclusive solutions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Your Key Contributions: Develop and implement targeted support plans for children, youth, and carers. Facilitate intake processes, assess needs, and create meaningful intervention strategies. Deliver in-home and flexible services, including after-hours and on-call support. Provide leadership through advice, training, and professional development for team members. Build relationships with community stakeholders to achieve lasting outcomes. Promote cultural safety and inclusivity, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:
A degree in social work, psychology, social sciences or a related field (or 5+ years' equivalent experience). Experience in child protection and out-of-home care frameworks, including knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999, trauma-informed care, and statutory frameworks. Strong interpersonal skills to connect with children, families, and professionals. A commitment to cultural competence and reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Current driver's license and ability to acquire a National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS) – or the ability to acquire – where the service and role provides care or support in licensed care service.
