About the role: Support Coordinator (3 days per week contracted until the 5th of July 2025) - Bunbury/Busselton As an NDIS Support Coordinator, you will be the guiding light for individuals navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Your role is crucial in helping participants understand their NDIS plans, connect with service providers, and achieve their personal goals. You will:
Enhance Skills and Independence: Work closely with participants to develop their skills and confidence, enabling them to take control of their lives and make informed decisions about their support and services.Provide Education and Resources: Offer guidance and resources to help participants understand their rights, responsibilities, and the available supports within the NDIS framework, ensuring they can effectively manage their plans.Promote Self-Advocacy: Encourage and support participants to advocate for themselves, helping them to articulate their needs, preferences, and goals to service providers and other stakeholders.Facilitate Access to Training: Connect participants with training opportunities and programs that enhance their abilities and prepare them for greater participation in their communities, education, or employment.Strengthen Support Networks: Assist participants in building and maintaining robust support networks, including family, friends, and community connections, to ensure they have a solid foundation of support.Foster Community Engagement: Encourage participants to engage in community activities and pursue interests and hobbies that enrich their lives and promote social inclusion.Monitor and Adjust Plans: Regularly review and adjust support plans to reflect participants' evolving needs and goals, ensuring that they continue to grow and progress towards greater independence.Empower Decision-Making: Support participants in making informed choices about their supports and services, helping them to navigate complex situations and access the best possible resources.Selection Criteria The suitable candidate must be able to demonstrate or show how they're working toward the below:
A minimum of Cert IV in Mental Health, or other equivalent Mental Health qualification, or demonstration of working towards.An exceptional understanding of mental health.An understanding of the NDIS.Experience working with people with a disability and in particular, people with Mental Health.Excellent time management, organisational, and computer literacy skills.Demonstrated experience in the use of risk assessments, and the development of support plans.A demonstrated understanding of boundaries (personal and professional).A demonstrated understanding of self-care.You have a compassionate, caring, and gentle nature with an ability to communicate with a broad range of people.Possess a high level of both verbal and written communication skills.Preferred experience as an NDIS Support Coordinator or a translatable skillset.Mental health first aid.Previous experience in working within a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency approach.You must have full working rights within Australia and possess/be willing to obtain before the commencement of employment:
