Today, we are Australia'slargest port for zinc, lead, copper, sugar and fertiliser.Additionally, we handle more motor vehicles and containerised goodsthan any other port in Northern Australia. The goods that flowthrough our ports are grown, mined, manufactured and used to betterthe lives of more than 800,000 people across a vast catchment area,spanning from Hinchinbrook to the Burdekin and west to MountIsa.
On average, more than 7.5 milliontonnes of goods, worth more than $11.4 billion, cross our wharveseach year. Thanks to our customers, we are one of thecountry's most diverse ports, linking more than 30 differentcommodities to 130 ports in 44countries.
The Townsville port is also anincreasingly strategic forward mounting location inAustralia's Defence capabilities, as well as an importanttourism enabler due to its modern dedicated cruise shipterminal.

About the role andyou Reporting to the Manager Information & Digital, your primaryrole as Supervisor Technology Services is to lead, coach, andmentor the Technology Services team, driving innovative, efficient,and effective delivery of day-to-day technology services andsupport to both internal and external customers. You will also beresponsible for the planning, purchasing, and implementation ofasset replacements and technology initiatives, as well as themanagement of third-party suppliers and providers.
Additionally, you will closely collaborate with the CyberSecurity Analyst to secure the Port's assets and systems. Thisincludes adhering to best-practice security frameworks and changemanagement processes to secure servers, storage, networkinfrastructure, eIoT devices, IP telephony, security systems(access control/CCTV), mobile endpoints, cloud platforms,enterprise management systems, and associated applications.
As the Supervisor Technology Services you will:
Lead, coach, and mentor the IT Support Officer, NetworkSystems Administrator, Database Applications Administrator, andEnterprise Systems Analyst.Foster a collaborative team environment, promotingprofessional growth and development.Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, setgoals, and address any issues or concerns.Manage the day-to-day delivery of technical supportservices, ensuring timely resolution of incidents andrequests.Monitor and manage the IT service desk to maintain highlevels of customer satisfaction.Manage IT assets in line with standards.Ensure all support activities are conducted in line withagreed SLA's and service delivery standards.Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting whennecessary.Manage the maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation of thePort's networks, servers, and systems.Ensure the reliability, security, and performance ofnetwork infrastructure and IT systems.Manage the administration and support of enterprise systemsand applications including the Port Shipping Systems,Enterprise Resource Planning and other softwareapplications.Collaborate with the Cyber Security Analyst to identify andmitigate security risks.Assist in the development and implementation of IT securitypolicies, standards and procedures.Ensure compliance with best-practice security frameworksand standards (e.g. ISO 27001, Essential 8, NIST).Timely prioritisation and remediation of securityvulnerabilities and risks.Assist the Digital Projects Officer to manage small-scaleIT projects and initiatives within the Business Unit Plan,ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, andbudget.Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to defineproject requirements and objectives.Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to theManager Information & Digital.Manage relationships with external vendors and serviceproviders.Ensure timely procurement of IT equipment andservices.Liaise with internal and external stakeholders tounderstand and address their technology needs.Oversee ITIL change management processes to ensureefficient handling of changes to technology systems andinfrastructure.Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to plan and schedulechanges, minimising disruption to services.Promote adherence to ITIL best practices within theTechnology Services team to enhance change managementeffectiveness.Oversee the management of backup and recovery systemswithin a virtual environment.Maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure alignmentwith the Business Continuity Plan.Ensure regular testing and validation of disaster recoveryand backup processes.Perform other duties as allocated by the ManagerInformation & Digital that may not be within your remit butare within your ability to execute.Participate in port emergency responses and associatedtraining as directed to assist with successful restoration ofthe Port back to an operating capacity in the event of anemergency. Experience you'llneed To be successful in the role, youwill require:
An appropriate tertiary qualification in InformationTechnology, Leadership & Management, or a relateddiscipline, with relevant experience or an equivalentcombination of relevant experience and training.Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, MicrosoftCertifications) are highly desirable.Current Queensland 'C' class driver'slicense.Ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card(MSIC)Ability to work after-hours and on-call.Proven experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring an ITteam responsible for networks, system administration, andenterprise application support.Excellent knowledge of ITIL service desk operations andchange management processes.Experience in the administration of Microsoft'secosystem including desktop, server and cloud systems.Proven ability to deliver small-scale IT projects andinitiatives within scope, time, and budget.Proven ability to foster a collaborative team environmentand promote professional growth and development.Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge ofbest-practice security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Essential8, NIST CSF.Experience in identifying and mitigating security risks andenforcing security standards.Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate changes to ITsystems and infrastructure, minimising service disruption.Strong interpersonal and communication skills toeffectively manage team dynamics and stakeholderrelationships.
