Supervisor (Feeding, Milling and Maintenance)Yarranbrook Feedlot is a specialist beef cattle lot-feeding, backgrounding, and irrigated farming operation based in the heart of Queensland's Border Rivers area.
Located close to Inglewood, the feedlot's strategic location and well-appointed infrastructure accommodate both short and long-fed cattle programs to service a combination of markets.
ABOUT THE ROLE As the Supervisor (Feeding, Milling and Maintenance), you will be responsible for directing all feeding, milling, and maintenance activities at the Yarranbrook Feedlot and leading a small close-knit team to support optimal cattle welfare and performance at all times.
This will require you to:
Supervise and monitor the performance of all Yarranbrook Feeding, Milling, and Maintenance employees, directing and scheduling their activities while striving for harmony and teamwork within the team and with other Mort & Co departments, ensuring adequate staffing levels and skills to perform required activities.Problem-solve complex issues related to mobile and fixed plant breakdowns, resourcing shortages impacting operational effectiveness, and other issues as they arise.Maintain effective stakeholder relationships with contractors to ensure the appropriate, timely, and efficient delivery of services to meet operational needs.In support of the Manager (Yarranbrook Feedlot), ensure feeding, milling, and maintenance activities operate efficiently and effectively to positively impact cattle performance and wellbeing.
This includes effective planning and scheduling of maintenance activities, including pen cleaning activities.Provide appropriate training in feeding and milling operations, maintaining detailed internal procedures for programs and activities to ensure staff understand the importance, requirements, and expectations of the feeding and milling function.Ensure that all operations are performed safely and efficiently, prioritizing the health and welfare of livestock, and maintaining programs to ensure safe work practices in compliance with company policy and procedure, industry regulations, and legislative requirements.ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will have previous relevant qualifications and/or experience in feeding, milling, and maintenance, along with advanced skills in animal nutrition, feed manufacture, and mechanical experience, as well as substantial experience in the operation of milling and machinery maintenance.
