The Opportunity CITIC Pacific Mining are looking for a Superintendent - Health and Safety for our Cape Preston Operations working an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
This is a great opportunity to join our huge Sino Iron Project.
The Purpose of the Role You will lead a team of Health and Safety Advisors (H&S) at the operational Health & Safety level and provide support to the General Manager Health & Safety and key leaders as required – with the ultimate aim of providing a safe workplace for employees, contracting partners and visitors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Take a visible leadership role in the implementation of H&S across the operations and fully integrate H&S as a line management responsibility.Provide direct supervision, guidance and mentoring to the H&S Advisors, including setting KPIs and conducting performance management in line with the H&S strategy and annual plan.Interact with and guide, as appropriate, other operational departments to support operational needs.Carry out all duties in a manner that minimises the risk to the workers and the Company and maintains safe work practices as appropriate.Actively maintain knowledge of and compliance with policies, procedures and safe work practices as appropriate to operational, construction and commissioning activities.Your ability to co-ordinate and monitor the site-based H&S audit program and review standards and procedures will be evident as will your ability to communicate to departments and contractors as appropriate.
You will provide advice and guidance to departments and teams on the development of procedures and standards.
You will set the standard for safety interactions and workplace inspections and also set and monitor H&S standards and performance expectations.
At all times you will provide assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents, ensuring causal factors are identified and all necessary follow-up actions are completed.
Position Requirements Excellent working and practical knowledge of the WA WHSA, WHSMR and applicable Australian Standards and codes of Practice.
Skills Ability to create graphs, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and reports.Confidently facilitate team-based risk assessments.Strong leadership, organisational, presentation and communication skills.Report writing skills.Influencing positive outcomes at the management level or above.Experience Extensive mining/resource industry experience in a leadership capacity.Experience in the management of H&S systems within Australia.Experience in incident investigations.Experience in auditing.Advanced Dip in Work Health & Safety or equivalent
Recognised tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety.Nationally recognised qualifications in Front Line Management.Cert IV Assessment & Workplace Training.Senior First Aid Certificate.Lead auditing in WHS or other management systems.Current WA Drivers Licence.About CITIC Pacific Mining (CPM) CPM is the company behind Sino Iron, already Australia's largest magnetite operation, located on Western Australia's Pilbara coast, south of Karratha.
