About the RoleThe General Practitioner (GP) Registrar - Obstetrics provides a high-quality clinical service to O&G patients.
This involves developing clinical judgement, acquiring procedural skills, and establishing clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve the relevant outcomes.
This will require gaining clinical experience, knowledge, and expertise in Obstetric medicine based on the five domains of General Practice as outlined by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP):
Communication Skills and the Patient-Doctor Relationship.Applied Professional Knowledge and Skills.Population Health and the Context of General Practice.Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a central part of the Top End Health Service (TEHS) and is a dynamic and rewarding place to work.
The maternity service has a large catchment area across the Northern Territory providing tertiary level care and supporting rural birthing units in Gove and Katherine as well as midwives, nurses, and GPs throughout the Northern Territories remote communities.
The O&G department has both a strong focus on generalist O&G training as well as dedicated clinics for maternal fetal medicine presentations, gynaecology oncology, vulval disorders, urodynamics/pelvic floor surgery, pregnancy choices, and a hospital-supported homebirth program.
As a senior registrar, you will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills with a wide variety of operative gynaecology and high-risk obstetrics, but the learning goes beyond the delivery room or operating theatre.
Outreach clinics will see you delivering care including colposcopy, ultrasound, and more.
