About the role Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students from prep to year 12 who have disengaged from education. The Community School offers an alternative to mainstream schooling, supporting some of the region's most vulnerable and marginalised young people.

Our Student Wellbeing Specialists support a positive wellbeing culture at Cire Community School. This involves assisting students with their wellbeing needs on a day-to-day basis, encouraging engagement, providing interventions and referrals, working with external professionals and student support groups, liaising with parents/guardians, and providing programs to student groups.

Working as a team, you will collaborate with students, teachers, and learning support professionals to establish strategies that support self-regulation, assisting students to actively participate in their learning. Your days will be varied, always active, and purposeful in supporting the overall wellbeing of Cire students.

Due to growth, Cire has a part-time fixed term opportunity, 3 -4 days per week, Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri at our Monbulk or Lilydale Campus working within our Middle Years 7-9 space.

About you As an experienced Wellbeing Specialist, you:

Hold a qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, Education, or a related field Have experience working effectively with young people and the ability to build rapport and trust Have a strong understanding of the complexity of adolescent development and the impact of trauma on development and engagement in education Have demonstrated ability to quickly, sensitively, and effectively assist with the de-escalation of young people in moments of personal distress Are passionate and skilled in working with students ranging from years 5 to 12 who struggle in mainstream education Are willing to assist students and staff by suggesting any adjustments that may need to occur for greater learning and engagement Have a thorough understanding of Child Safe frameworks and regulations Currently hold, or be willing to undertake, certifications including a Working with Children Check, Australian Right to Work Check, and National Police Check To enjoy Cire's environment and culture, you will have a community focus, friendly personality, and positive attitude. Community School, a registered independent school, providing upper primary and secondary curriculum to disengaged students in an alternative school environment; Early Learning, supporting children's services for long day-care, pre-school programs, occasional care, vacation care, and before and after school care; Training, our Registered Training Organisation (RTO), offering accredited, pre-accredited, work skills, and leisure courses; and Community Hubs, bringing people together to connect, learn and contribute in their local community through social, educational, recreational, and support activities.
