Allansford and District Primary is a single campus school located in the township of Allansford, eleven kilometres to the east of the regional city of Warrnambool.
Our school provides a safe, purposeful, and stimulating learning environment that is reflected in our school motto - 'Allansford kids are Friendly Kids'.
We have a culture of high expectations for student attendance, connectedness, and learning.
It is our intention to promote our '4 B' values of: Be safe - Be Respectful - Be Responsible - Be a Learner as our Behavioural Framework for all learning and interactions in our community.
In developing a culture that promotes learning, a high priority is given to building and maintaining positive and caring relationships between staff, students, parents, and the wider community.
Staff place a significant emphasis on knowing the students and developing their capacity to best cater for individual student's points of need.
Curriculum provision is ensured through quality learning opportunities in Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry and complemented with specialist staff.
The culture of Professional Learning Communities is embedded in our practice.
These communities focus on collaboration, understanding our data, talking with students and staff to provide quality instructional practice to promote the growth of students and staff.
In 2025, we plan to operate 7 classrooms, supported by four specialists and a student enrolment in the range of 170.
We have two main priorities in 2025.
Teaching & Learning: In 2025, our focus will be implementing our instructional model for numeracy (Anticipate – Launch Explore – Summarize – Review). We will build on our work in providing challenging numeracy tasks and provide feedback to staff in relation to instructional practice through student shadowing and observations.
We will also be developing our approach to 'Structured Literacy' and refining our Daily Literacy Block for Year F-2 classes & Year 3-6 levels.
Well-Being: In 2025, our focus will be on students enhancing their social and emotional skills to build healthy relationships, resilience, and confidence.
The department's Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program will be the key resource used by staff across the school.
Our Disability Inclusion Coordinator and Mental Health Well-Being Leader will collaborate to best cater for the diverse learning needs of our students.
Selection Criteria SC1 'Content of teaching and learning'. Demonstrated ability to inform and influence the work of others involved in the engagement, mental health, wellbeing or learning of children and young people. SC2 'Teaching practice'. Demonstrated ability to input into the development, implementation and evaluation of processes and strategies relating to mental health, wellbeing or learning. SC3 'Assessment and reporting of student learning'. Demonstrated ability to support a student's mental health, wellbeing or learning by developing and maintaining connection with external services. SC4 'Interaction with the school community'. Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and communication skills. Demonstrated high level of capability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, other employees and the broader school community to focus on student learning, wellbeing and engagement. SC5 'Professional requirements'. Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate by gaining buy-in and ownership for ideas, gaining agreement to proposals, or involving experts or other third parties to strengthen a case. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
