Warragul Primary School is in the centre of the Warragul township located in West Gippsland. We value our rich history, educating thousands of students over approximately 145 years and have several historic buildings, a modern BER building with shared learning areas and extensive grounds. The Warragul Primary School Early Learning Centre is located onsite and provides families with access to 3-year-old and 4-year-old kinder programs. Warragul Primary School is a two-campus school with an enrolment of approximately 250 students. The junior campus comprises of the F-2-year levels and the senior campus comprises of the 3-6-year levels. The campuses are located across a roadway from each other and work together as a whole school with shared specialist facilities for Science, Art, AUSLAN, Library and Physical Education. The grounds feature large playing spaces, netball/basketball courts, playgrounds and attractive garden areas.
Learning and Wellbeing: Warragul Primary School's teaching and learning is based on the Victorian Curriculum and reflects the values of our school community. We have a strong focus on providing a challenging and supportive learning environment through using assessment data and feedback to guide explicit teaching. All children are encouraged to achieve their best academically, socially/emotionally and to develop personal learning management skills. We encourage success and respect of the individual through our School Values: Be Safe, Be Fair, Think, Learn and Care. These values are used in conjunction with the Berry Street Education Model to underpin our approach to wellbeing and learning.
Staff Supports: Teachers participate in Professional Learning Teams (Foundation, 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6) to support their planning and development of best teaching practices. All teachers have access to coaching and mentoring for explicit teaching practice and student wellbeing. Support staff work in teams based on their area of work i.e. Administration or Integration. Teachers and Education Support staff also collaborate to implement and monitor the School Strategic Plan and key improvement strategies. The School Leadership team consists of the Principal, Assistant Principal, Learning Specialist (Teaching and Learning) and Leading Teacher (Wellbeing). The team focuses on Strategic Plan implementation, overall school direction and works closely with the School Council.
Role: The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
As the classroom teacher gains experience, his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.
Responsibilities: Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school; Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions; Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply: Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Conditions of Employment: This vacancy is to replace an employee on parental absence and is for a period of seven years or until the employee absent on leave returns to duty at the school.
VIT LANTITE: To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
