Location ProfileElisabeth Murdoch College (EMC) is a coeducational secondary college, 7-12, located in the southeastern suburb of Langwarrin with a current student population of 1620. We care about developing each of our students as a whole child. We build relationships and offer opportunities that position students for their pathway to success.
Our key priority areas are Literacy, Student Engagement in Learning, and Community Engagement. The College has an instructional model that guides teaching and learning for staff and students. The model provides flexibility to incorporate current department initiatives. Elisabeth Murdoch College leads and implements initiatives and strategies to support the wellbeing of students, staff and the wider community. EMC is a lead school for the Department of Education Respectful Relationships initiative. We also have a newly established Inclusive Education team supporting students with additional needs including the new Tier 2 disability inclusion approach and Disability Inclusion Profiles (formerly Program for Students with Disabilities). EMC drives reconciliation in education, and celebrates and supports our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through our endorsed Reconciliation Action Plan.
Selection CriteriaKSC 1: Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of whole school strategic planning and approaches, particularly promoting health promotion practice to an education audience.
KSC 2: Well-developed project management skills including experience in building the capability of others.
KSC 3: Demonstrated capacity to apply developed assessment, analytical skills and strategic thinking.
KSC 4: Highly developed communication, interpersonal and networking skills with a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with students, parents and carers, school-based teams and teachers, education support staff and other professional agencies.
KSC 5: Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon their own professional practice and apply the knowledge, skills and expertise derived from ongoing professional learning.
KSC 6: Knowledge and understanding of Child Safe Standards.
RoleLead a whole school approach to working towards meeting benchmarks for the health priority areas of the Victorian Prevention and Health Promotion Achievement Program framework for Schools at Elisabeth Murdoch CollegeProject manage the development, implementation and evaluation of the project of the Achievement Program framework to EMCCoordinate the planning and embedding of practices, policies and frameworks across EMC as a health promotion strategy for long term health and wellbeing outcomes for our students and communityEngage stakeholders and access the resources, tools and organisations that lead and support schools to implement the Achievement Program.Develop and document strategic planning of health promotion at EMC including embedding the framework beyond the end of the projectWork as part of a multidisciplinary team in the development and implementation strategies that foster resilience in young people, including Positive Education, to address their social emotional and educational needsResponsibilitiesProject management Analyse data for internal and external purposesCollaborate with Wellbeing team to develop and implement strategies to address emerging issues based on data analysisDevelop, coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate the EMC Health Promotion Plan aligned to the Victorian Prevention and Health Promotion Achievement Program framework for Schools, as well as other EMC strategic plansExplore State, Federal Government and International Health Promotion priorities and targets to guide project planning and Health Promotion interventionsContribute to and support all teams related to students health and wellbeing outcomes, to facilitate and strengthen the development of sustainable Health Promotion approaches, strategies and systemsStudent support Provide support including following emergency management processesFacilitate student voice in health promotion planning and deliveryDeliver educational sessions to small groups and larger cohorts as requested and/or based on evidence of need for emerging concerns related to the priority areas of the Achievement ProgramTeacher capacity building Deliver training and education programs, opportunities for collective learning, resources and support tobuild workforce and organisational excellence in whole school health promotionAct as resource for teachers to build their capacity in the health promotion as it relates to secondary school students' health and wellbeingSupport staff to adhere to Mandatory Reporting obligations including documentation and follow up with reporting bodiesStakeholder relationships Strengthen links, referral pathways and collaborate with other health professionals and a range of community organisations and government agencies related to wellbeingNetwork and liaise with community health agencies and other key organisations regarding Health Promotion around potential partnershipsInvestigate opportunities and make recommendations for accessing and applying for funding for health promotionFacilitate and develop collaborative projects that encourage participation from the local communityActively contribute to a range of College-based teams including attendance of out of school hour events where appropriate (eg Grade 6 Information Night)Lead collation of information and development of wellbeing material on College websitePolicies and processes Work collaboratively with the Student Wellbeing Team members and the College Leadership Group to develop, update and review wellbeing policies and processes to ensure they are consistent with the philosophies of College regarding the management and development of health promotionInput into Strategic Planning including College Annual Implementation Plan, Positive Education planMaintain appropriate records, statistics and reports, and adhere to the administrative procedures of the serviceParticipate in relevant staff, team, health promotion meetings, workshops and training.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
