Selection CriteriaKSC 1: Qualification and experience in Social Work or other relevant field which includes individual counselling and case management of adolescents. Registration with relevant professional accrediting body (eligibility for AASW registration for Social Workers). Previous experience in a school environment desirable.
KSC 2: Demonstrated ability to support and deliver health and wellbeing promotion in a school environment across whole school, targeted and individual interventions.
KSC 3: Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills which demonstrate: a commitment to empathic and supportive relationships; a creative and flexible approach to barriers and conflict; a commitment to collaboration and teamwork with all members of the school and wider community.
KSC 4: Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a supportive and empowering way. Experience working in a job share arrangement desirable.
KSC 5: Demonstrated qualities of compassion, initiative, leadership, accountability and collaboration.
RoleThe student supports structure of Fairhills High School incorporates a Student Wellbeing Team (SWT) who assumes responsibility for supporting the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of all students. The SWT is primarily responsible for the implementation of wellbeing policies and processes and a range of whole school, targeted and individual wellbeing programs and interventions. The SWT liaise with school staff, families and external agencies in support of students and families. The current SWT comprises a Student Wellbeing Leader (SWL) (0.6), Mental Health Practitioner (0.4), Counsellor (0.4). The SWT is supported by an Assistant Principal- Wellbeing & Engagement. The advertised role (0.4) is available as a job share with the current SWL. Days and hours of work will be negotiated to ensure coverage of support for the school.
Responsibilities include:
Identify and respond to student wellbeing needs in accordance with student data, Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), wellbeing policies and processes and in conjunction with the Assistant Principal - Wellbeing and Engagement/Sub School Leaders.Use data to plan, source, implement and review whole school and targeted wellbeing initiatives and interventions.Respond to and provide oversight of individual student wellbeing referrals; manage case allocations within the wellbeing team, provide case work support and guidance to wellbeing team; monitor at risk students.Provide individual counselling support and case management to students at educational or personal risk, including risk assessments and safety planning where required.Liaise with, support and provide consultation to Year Level Team leaders, relevant teachers and staff including Assistant Principals/Sub School Leaders in support of individual students, as well as families/carers.Provide consultation and leadership in conjunction with AP- Wellbeing & Engagement/Sub School Leaders around identified instances of student risk and or critical incidents.Coordinate Student Support Group meetings for students living in Out of Home Care and those with significant mental health needs.Attend Care team meetings and liaise with external support providers as required.Record case notes in accordance with relevant information sharing/storage and wellbeing policies.Liaise with and make referrals to external support providers where appropriate for students and families.Lead fortnightly Team Meetings with wellbeing team, lead Wellbeing and Engagement meetings with Sub School Leaders, attend Wellbeing & Engagement collaboration sessions as required.Review and provide consultation on relevant school policies; identify opportunities for process improvements.Ensure compliance with all reporting and information sharing requirements including mandatory reporting, MARAM, FVIS, CIS, Child Safe Standards.Management of wellbeing budget.Lead and support wellbeing team with work planning and case management.Identify appropriate professional development to support team.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
