About the role

The Brisbane Broncos are seeking a Student Support Officer to join us in Caboolture.
The purpose of the Student Support Officer is to support our Beyond the Broncos Program by providing mentoring and support services to First Nations students to assist in engagement, retention, and academic progress of students in years 7 to 12.
This is a part-time role working 2 days per week.
Your responsibilities will include: Providing culturally safe mentoring and strengths-based support to participants.
Working collaboratively with key stakeholders including school staff, parents, carers, indigenous community, NGOs and government agencies.
Updating and maintaining student profiles and records.
Providing students with career pathway support including mentoring, work experience, industry engagement, info sessions, self-awareness, etc.
Implementing, monitoring and reviewing attendance, behaviour, effort, retention and attainment strategies.
Other ad hoc tasks as required.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will have: Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with current knowledge of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and an established relationship or ability to engage effectively and seek advice.
A qualification in Career Guidance and Community Services or Youth Work and experience in a similar role is desirable.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Education, Youth or Community Service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong administrative and reporting skills.
A strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving participants and team members.
A current driver's licence and current Paid Blue Card - essential.
