About the role The purpose of this position is to contribute to the delivery of culturally sensitive rural and remote health education across the Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT) and Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health (Majarlin) programs.
Within the KCRMT program, as part of the national student matters framework, the position provides a range of support services for all medical students.
These support services will cover a range of student issues associated with accommodation, finance, academic and mental health.
Within the Majarlin program, this position will provide cultural support to Allied Health and Nursing and Midwifery students undertaking clinical placements in the region.
The position will work with other members of Majarlin's cultural security team and clinical academics to optimise cultural competency of the placements.
This position will work closely with academics, professional staff and central services to ensure high quality and timely delivery of support services to staff and students to positively impact the outcomes of the KCRMT and Majarlin programs.

be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived. Key Responsibilities As part of the KCRMT program, participate in the development and implementation of student support initiatives with a focus on Indigenous student retention and success.
This responsibility is delivered as part of a national team of student matters staff within the School of Medicine.Provide support covering a range of issues associated with accommodation, finance, academic and mental health for all medical students in the KCRMT program.Directly supporting and connecting students to relevant academic and support programs.Building and maintaining positive relationships with external partners, students, and relevant internal stakeholders, especially senior Indigenous academic staff.Contributing to the continuous improvement of practices, operational processes, and programs and initiatives that assist Indigenous students with their university life and study.As part of the Majarlin program, support staff and students in the context of delivering high-quality and culturally appropriate rural training experience.
This will include:Supporting Majarlin staff in the design and delivery of academic programs and projects, including student placements, research, graduate training, and student recruitment, ensuring activities are implemented with optimal cultural sensitivity.Perform face-to-face and on-the-job cultural security training and, with other Aboriginal staff, delivered to Allied Health and Nursing students attending placement in the Kimberley, ensuring that learning resources represent Kimberley Aboriginal people's culture and society.Across both programs, anticipate student needs, proactively responding to student requests and queries and offering subject matter expertise while ensuring the provision of accurate and consistent information that supports the student towards independence and self-direction.Qualifications, skills & experience Relevant tertiary qualification at Certificate IV level or higher, plus extensive relevant experience in either Business Administration, Tertiary Education, Project Management, Finance or other related areas.A Degree qualification is desirable.Proven high level administration experience in a busy, fluid environment (higher education experience highly regarded).An understanding of the higher education sector, including its policies, procedures, and regulations with demonstrated ability to effectively support students, understand academic policies and procedures, and collaborate with faculty and staff to address student needs.Understanding of the historical and current issues and trends within Higher Education and the challenges facing Indigenous students and the complex relationship which may govern and influence Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated familiarity, sensitivity and respect for the diverse needs, aspirations and cultures of Indigenous societies.Benefits Excellent opportunity to make a transformational contribution to the societies in the Kimberley/Pilbara regions and leave a legacy.Join the University supporting its students and staff to achieve their career goals – in a personal and positive environment.Extra remote benefits.How to apply Please apply online with a resume and cover letter outlining your suitability for the role.
