Student Support Officer Based in Broome Campus Full-time, Fixed-term role (To 30 June 2026 - with possibility of extension) Be part of a team committed to providing a high standard of teaching and pastoral care.

Salary: $88,988 to $94,182 pa (Level 6) + 14.25% super + remote benefits.
About the university The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, Broome, and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in Victoria and New South Wales.
About the role The purpose of this position is to contribute to the delivery of culturally sensitive rural and remote health education across the Kimberley Centre for Remote Medical Training (KCRMT) and Majarlin Kimberley Centre for Remote Health (Majarlin) programs.
The position provides a range of support services for all medical students, covering issues associated with accommodation, finance, academic, and mental health.
Additionally, the position will provide cultural support to Allied Health and Nursing and Midwifery students undertaking clinical placements in the region.

Eligibility Criteria To be eligible for this position, you must provide a statement and supporting documentation that addresses how you meet each of the following criteria for Aboriginality: Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; Be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived.
Key Responsibilities Participate in the development and implementation of student support initiatives focusing on Indigenous student retention and success.
Provide support covering a range of issues associated with accommodation, finance, academic, and mental health for all medical students.
Directly support and connect students to relevant academic and support programs.
Build and maintain positive relationships with external partners, students, and relevant internal stakeholders.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of practices and programs that assist Indigenous students.
Support staff and students in delivering high-quality and culturally appropriate rural training experiences.
Perform face-to-face and on-the-job cultural security training for Allied Health and Nursing students.
Anticipate student needs and respond proactively to requests and queries.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Relevant tertiary qualification at Certificate IV level or higher, plus extensive relevant experience in Business Administration, Tertiary Education, Project Management, Finance, or related areas.
A Degree qualification is desirable.
Proven high-level administration experience in a busy, fluid environment.
Understanding of the higher education sector, including policies and regulations.
Understanding of historical and current issues affecting Indigenous students.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with sensitivity to the diverse needs of Indigenous societies.
