Selection CriteriaDemonstrated experience in addressing a range of student wellbeing needs, both through individual counseling and facilitation of small group therapeutic programs.Understanding of the common approaches, policies, programs and research relating to student wellbeing.Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including the capacity to construct positive relationships with staff, external agencies and parents as required.Demonstrated experience in the development of confidential professional records and case notes.Demonstrated ongoing commitment to developing professional understanding and expertise in the area of student wellbeing.Outline how your suitable qualifications in social work or youth work or equivalent will support you to be successful in this role.RoleThe role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved.
ResponsibilitiesConnect students with suitable and appropriate supports and interventions.Work with the school Student Support team and attendance officer to facilitate student attendance.Facilitation and development of small group work with students where necessary.Work with other Student Support and external service providers to provide intervention and/or support to students and families.Collaborate with other school staff in creating individual education support plans.Liaise and consult with the Student Support Teams to assist the implementation of individual plans.Liaise with families and carers regarding student engagement needs.Support the process of transition for students during the school day.Support and foster health promotion and wellbeing across the school.Participate in all key school events and activities as requested.Undertake other duties as determined appropriate by the Student Engagement Leader, Assistant Principal and Principal.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
