St Andrew's Hospital, Australia's largest standalone private hospital, is offering a unique opportunity for student nurses in their 2nd and 3rd year of study to join our dynamic Procedural Team.About this roleWe are currently seeking student nurses to work in a casual capacity in our Perioperative Holding Bay.
This area in the Operating Theatre Suite serves as a crucial waiting space for patients before their entry into the actual theatre.
You will undertake theatre nursing care activities in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures, under the direction and supervision of the Registered General Nurse: Accurately performs clinical handover from the ward registered or enrolled nurse and subsequently to the anaesthetic/theatre nurse, including the patient identification procedure in accordance with the Patient Identification and Pre-Procedural Check procedureEncourages the patient to be actively engaged in their plan of care and the clinical handover processObserves the patient at all times and monitors their condition.
Immediately reports clinical changes or concerns to a registered nurse, and completes documentation as required.Provides emotional support and physical comfort to the patient while waiting in Holding Bay, and keeps them informed of any changes or delays as advised by the surgical team.Ensures patients arrive to Holding Bay in a timely manner and facilitates their readiness for theatre.
