About the role The Student Counsellor is responsible for the provision of counselling services for students at the University.
Additionally, you will be working with the team to develop and implement mental health education and group programs to proactively support good mental health of our students.
You will:
Provide evidence-based assessment and short-term psychological interventions.Assess for, and manage, emerging, acute, and complex student mental health issues, including student risk.Support the development of resources to support the mental health and resilience of students.Contribute to local counselling team response to critical incidents including provision of psychological first aid.About you You will have expertise in the provision of evidence-based short-term psychological counselling with a diverse population across a broad range of issues.
In addition, you will possess demonstrated experience in the delivery of training programs and workshops.
You will possess:
Eligibility for registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or membership of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) with registration as a mental health Social Worker.Advanced clinical, assessment, and intervention skills.Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams in developing and providing wellbeing and mental health services.Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Extensive experience in developing and implementing mental health education and/or group programs.All University positions delivering education and/or services to children must hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC).
