Employment Arrangement: 35 hours per week with access to Council's flexible working arrangements
Salary Range: Grade 19 $102,229.40 - $117,699.40 per annum (dependent upon experience), plus 11.5% Superannuation
Strathfield Council is a medium sized Council located in Sydney's Inner West, comprising approximately 14 square kilometres with an estimated population of 46,000 residents, growing at 2.5-3% annually.
About the Role
Strathfield Council is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time, permanent basis. The Senior Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial accounting and reporting function as well as transactional services, ensuring accurate, reliable, and compliant financial information.
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential), and membership to a professional body (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA) or similar certification (desirable). Extensive experience in financial accounting with proven accuracy, reliability, problem-solving, and business improvement skills. Advanced knowledge of accounting standards, principles, regulations, and best practices. High proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical skills. Strong problem-solving skills to resolve complex accounting issues. Demonstrated innovation and commitment to automation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in supporting financial operations and undertaking transactional work. Solid experience in business partnering, budgeting, and financial planning is highly desirable. Strong negotiation skills to influence stakeholders. Position Description
