We are seeking a passionate and suitably qualified and experienced planner to join Council's motivated and professional Strategic Planning team.
Reporting to the Coordinator Strategic Planning, this position will support a diverse team to carry out a broad range of strategic planning tasks to achieve excellent planning outcomes.
The Strategic Planning section is responsible for a range of functions in relation to preparation and management of planning instruments, rezoning of land, preparation of strategic plans and policies, public land management, environmental policy, economic development, social planning, heritage, sustainability initiatives and community engagement.

In addition, this senior role will work closely with the Coordinator to provide supervisory and mentoring support to junior planning staff and to ensure section goals and objectives are achieved.

Council will consider both part-time and full-time working arrangements and will discuss preferred working arrangements with shortlisted candidates at interview stage.

To be successful you will bring:

Tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Planning or an allied profession combined with demonstrated extensive industry experience.
Demonstrated extensive working knowledge of strategic and environmental planning frameworks and legislation in a local government framework, including preparation of plans.
Demonstrated experience in the assessment and management of complex planning proposals.
The rewards:
An annual salary range of up to $109,300 (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
A leaseback vehicle for work and private use (full-time only).
19 day month flexible work arrangement for full-time staff.
Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options.
Subject to operational requirements, full-time office staff will have access to a nine day fortnight, with a thirty minute lunch break.
For the duration of the trial arrangement, staff will also have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational requirements and approval.
