About the opportunity  The Strategic Communications Advisor is responsible for the delivery of quality communications advice and materials to the organisation in a complex and changing environment.
The role requires a strong focus on high level strategic understanding of key issues, ability to provide advice and proactive communication planning and high quality content creation for a range of audiences, including both internal and external stakeholders.
This collaborative role provides communications expertise grounded in extensive and relevant experience, specialised industry knowledge and contemporary communications best practice to support the organisation to successfully navigate current and future industry challenges.
It will play a key role in the Communications & Engagement team in delivering communications advice and content to support leaders and their business units meet their business objectives.
Key role objectives Partner and consult with Senior Leaders, key stakeholders and other functional groups across the business to provide proactive, high-level strategic communications and engagement advice, and support.
Develop and implement innovative and contemporary communication and engagement activities to achieve desired organisational outcomes in a complex and changing environment, while promoting the brand and protecting reputation.
Draft media releases and preparation for media responses in collaboration with the Manager, External Relations.
Perform as media spokesperson, if required.
Development of high quality, relevant and audience-focused written content including web and online content, reports, speeches, and briefing notes.
Management and development of content for key communications channels including the website and social media channels.
Engage, brief and manage external consultants and other service providers to ensure all activity is consistent with our corporate identity and positioning and meets the requirements of the business.
Build and maintain successful working relationships at all levels within the business and with key external stakeholders including councils, business and community.
Essential role requirements  Degree qualifications in a communications-related discipline (communications, marketing, public relations) or equivalent skills & knowledge gained through experience.
Experience in corporate communications and media in a private sector or government environment.
