Overview of the role Managing the Emergency Response and Security team, the Emergency and Security Coordinator is accountable for executing emergency preparedness, response, and security protocols at Nyrstar's Port Pirie site.
Based in Port Pirie, South Australia, this is a full-time Monday to Friday position reporting to the Safety Health Environment and Quality Manager.
Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to: Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and vulnerability assessments to identify potential emergencies and establish mitigation strategies, response actions, and recovery measures.
Ensure compliance with applicable emergency management laws, regulations, standards, and reporting requirements established by governmental agencies, regulatory bodies, and accrediting organisations.
Conduct training sessions, desktop exercises, drills, and simulations to prepare personnel for responding to various types of emergencies as described in the Emergency Response Plan.
Conduct reviews and debriefings following emergency response operations/exercises to evaluate performance, identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
Document lessons learned, best practices, and recommendations for enhancing emergency response capabilities, resource allocation, and coordination in future incidents.
Coordinate with internal departments, external agencies, community partners, and stakeholders to establish collaborative relationships for emergency response coordination.
Facilitate partnerships with emergency management agencies, first responders, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, and public utilities to enhance preparedness and improve response capabilities.
Qualifications/Experience & Abilities: Essential: At least one of the following: Bachelor / Diploma of Nursing / Certificate IV Health Care (or equivalent) Certificate II Public Safety (Emergency Management or Firefighting and Emergency Operations) Certificate II Security Operations Certificate II Mine Emergency and Rescue Demonstrated experience in medical or emergency response in heavy industry and experience leading emergency response teams.
A thorough knowledge of safety, health, and emergency response related legislation Current unrestricted Class C South Australian Drivers Licence.
