Our annual events:
Somerset Storyfest: Our annual youth literature festival on the Gold Coast engages 10,000 kids from 70 schools throughout Queensland and NSW to experience interactive learning with leading authors.
Our Sponsored Schools Programme covers the costs for 1000 students per year to attend the festival, ensuring all children have access to this opportunity.
In addition to youth writers' festivals, we also host several fundraising events, namely an Annual Giving Day, Charity Golf Day and Business Lunch.
At times, bespoke events are added to the calendar.
Storyfest On the Road: The Storyfest van brings acclaimed authors and illustrators directly to schools to work with students in all forms of creative writing.
Regional Queensland – South West (St. George), Out West (Longreach) and Central Queensland (Emerald).
The Role
Reporting to the CEO, the Producer Events and Engagement (Gold Coast) will oversee the development and delivery of events based on the Gold Coast, on a full time, fixed term, one year basis.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Operate as the lead Producer for all matters relating to key events on the Gold Coast.
End-to-end event production management: driving all aspects forward from pre-production to live event through to post-production deliverables.
Cultivate strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration.
Attend client meetings as required.
Develop and manage project budgets with precision and foresight, ensuring margins are met.
Prepare and manage internal and external documentation.
Brief and manage our suppliers, creating milestones for each deliverable and ensuring timelines are met and work is delivered to the highest standard.
Manage on-site set up and attend events as the main point of contact for our suppliers during event programs.
Collaborate with the internal teams to foster a culture of positivity and excellence.
Provide the onsite docs needed including run sheets, call sheets, risk assessments, supplier schedules etc.
Ensure supplier invoices are submitted and coded correctly to ensure prompt payment and accurate financial records.
Management of project budgets including scheduling of supplier payments and project reconciliation.
The Candidate:
Extensive experience in event operations, logistics and project management.
Self-motivated and proactive.
Exceptional interpersonal, organisational, communication, and customer service skills to navigate diverse stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrated interest in delivering high quality community events.
A strategic mindset with an ability to manage budgets and financials, including forecasting and reporting.
An unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.
Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills.
Possess a cooperative, collaborative, solution-oriented mindset, and can-do attitude.
Experience fundraising or with direct campaign management is highly desirable.
A desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
Developed problem-solving skills and solutions-focused attitude.
A minimum 4+ years' experience in event production, festival experience highly regarded.
Possess or willing to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card.
