Home to approximately 2000 Yarnangu (Ngaanyatjarra people) across 11 unique communities, our council is dedicated to preserving and celebrating our rich heritage spanning over 10,000 years and 250,000 square kilometres.
Established in 1981, the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG) represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across the 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing in excess of 450 people, NCG provides a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres, and land services. It is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in the country.

The Opportunity:
This position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact within a vibrant, remote community based in WA, contributing to its growth and sustainability. Community retail stores play a vital role in providing food security and nutrition and this role as Store Manager in our largest store presents an opportunity, with support from NG Council, to develop and implement policies, processes, and systems that will help ensure that our services become a benchmark for efficiency and excellence and serve as a blueprint for other stores.
Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operations, including providing supervision and training to staff and fostering a productive and culturally sensitive work environment. Manage stock levels, control waste and shrinkage, and maximize merchandising opportunities. Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to store policies. Manage financial transactions and work with NG Council to provide meaningful financial performance summaries for store owners. Drive sales performance and achieve gross profit targets, ensuring adherence to NG Council's policies. About You:
We are looking for a highly motivated individual or a couple with substantial managerial experience in a supermarket or similar retail environment. You should have a proven track record of operational excellence and a deep understanding of best practices in store management. Your background should include significant experience in store improvement, process design, stock management, and point-of-sale systems.
You excel in leading and developing teams, managing budgets, and enhancing service delivery while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Resilience and an openness to change are crucial, as is the ability to effectively address and resolve customer issues. Your experience should demonstrate a commitment to fostering a productive, culturally sensitive work environment and driving operational success.
You are enthusiastic about leading a transformative role and establishing a new operational blueprint. Your strong commercial acumen, community engagement skills, and ability to build cohesive relationships are essential. You should also possess strong computer literacy, with the ability to learn new software.
