We manage the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, the RAS Foundation, Australasian Animal Registry and the Sydney Showground. The RAS has a team of over 150 full-time staff and an indispensable pool of casual staff who work on the Easter Show, and other Sydney Showground events.

An exciting opportunity has emerged to join the Catering team at Sydney Showground, part of the dynamic and diverse Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS). This role is ideal for someone with at least 2 years of experience in a multifaceted food and beverage operation, looking to lead a team and ensure smooth back-of-house operations.
As Stewarding Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchens and related areas, while supervising and training casual kitchen hands.
You will report directly to the Executive Sous Chef and work closely with various internal teams to ensure a high standard of service during events. This position requires a hands-on approach and an ability to guide and inspire a casual workforce in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and train casual kitchen hands including in personal protection equipment and safe working procedures, ensuring appropriate briefing and support for each shift.Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all kitchens and back-of-house areas.Prepare and implement plans and strategies for the safe, economic and suitable disposal of food waste.Identify hazards, and assess and control risks in the workplace by notifying management of all repairs and maintenance required.Provide feedback on staff performance with WHS.Record and report all injuries and equipment damage.Assist with inventory control, stocktakes, and management of equipment.Ensure accurate timekeeping for casual kitchen staff by managing timesheets.Support the Stores department with event setup, breakdown, and equipment maintenance.Coordinate with contracted cleaners and assist in food safety program administration (HACCP).Lead by example in personal character, commitment, and work habits.Undertake additional responsibilities during major events such as the Sydney Royal Easter Show.Advise on and enforce prevention programs and strategies for food safety.Maintain knowledge of current WHS practices and relevant legislation.What Will Make You Successful? NSW RSA Competency Card and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy food and beverage operation.Understanding of WHS, inventory control, and food safety (HACCP).Strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.Excellent personal hygiene standards and attention to detail.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.Desirable: a current manual driver's license.If you're passionate about delivering high-quality service and thrive in a dynamic environment, this role offers the perfect platform to develop your skills and contribute to an iconic organization.
