About the Role We are seeking a Steel Erector to safely perform dogging & rigging duties on a day-to-day basis across multiple work environments, all whilst working positively as a part of a diverse team and to safely operate a variety of construction equipment where required – Forklift, Telehandler, EWP and Scissor lifts.
To safely operate cranes, lifting a broad range of items from structural steel to mechanical equipment, and where required.

Key Responsibilities Operate Construction Equipment (Cranes, EWP's, Scissor Lifts, Forklifts, Tele-handlers); Read specifications or drawings to determine the locations, quantities, or sizes of materials required; Connect columns, beams, and Cold roll items with bolts, following drawings and instructions from supervisors; also as per Australian standard.
Lifting of steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel members; Dismantle structures or equipment; Undertake pre-operational inspections and communicate all servicing, mechanical needs with your supervisors; Apply your dogging, Rigging and Crane Operation experience and knowledge to ensure only safe lifting and movement of all loads to be moved, lifted and installed.
Undertake or arrange regular maintenance of both crane and rigging equipment; Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your manager, supervisor or leading hands.
Safely perform all other reasonable duties as directed; Skills and Experience Previous structural steel erection experience is preferred Be prepared to work 5.5 days a week as and when required Previous experience working with cranes of various sizes; Basic rigging ticket required as minimum EWP Ticket; Working at Heights ticket; White card; Driver's license with reliable vehicle Adhere to OH&S practices; Be organized, efficient & productive; Have the right attitude towards any issue/problem that may arise Have the right attitude and willing to work overtime offered Work in a team environment; Be willing to travel when required Why Work at Ahrens We are continually evolving and investing in our people and facilities to achieve satisfying outcomes.
