Apprenticeship Support Australia (ASA) has been awarded the Australian Government's contract to support apprenticeships and traineeships in Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland for 2024 – 2026, which began on 1 July.
ASA leverages 26 years of apprenticeship and traineeship support to enhance successful retention and completion rates whilst growing participation. ASA offers free, quality advice, apprentice/trainees sign ups, administrative payment support, mentoring and personal support. Apprenticeships and traineeships are crucial to Tasmania's VET system and economy, bridging career aspirations and skills needs.
About the role
Based in Hobart, the State Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team to provide services across Tasmania. This role involves strategic planning, team management, business growth, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to apprentices, employers, and key stakeholders. There will be a high focus on developing new business opportunities as an ongoing requirement of the role.
About you
This position is well suited to an individual who enjoys managing people, thrives in a busy environment, and has the ability to grow new business. In addition, you will have:
Proven experience in a leadership role (at least five years is preferable)
Strong understanding of the Australian Apprenticeship system in Tasmania
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders
Proven business development achievements through new business, growth, and client retention
Proven ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team
Demonstrated management skills and ability to work within a program framework
Well-developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in client service
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
High level of integrity and professionalism
The successful candidate will be provided with the required tools to perform the role, including a mobile phone allowance, laptop, and vehicle, in addition to a competitive salary.
