The Manager, Fire Policy and Legislation in DEECA's Bushfire and Forest Services Group leads a team responsible for providing complex strategic, legislative and regulatory policy advice to support the integrated and effective management of bushfires on public land.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the position plays a critical role in driving policy reform and continuous improvement, providing expert policy advice on emerging issues and opportunities, and designing creative and innovative solutions to complex problems to deliver on government objectives.
As a people leader, the Manager Fire Policy and Legislation is also proactive in building a positive, collaborative and engaged culture and coaching and mentoring staff to perform at their best.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, law, social science, emergency management or environmental management or similar Proven experience in the design and implementation of strategic, legislative or regulatory policy reform is essential A demonstrated understanding of fire management in Victoria will be highly regarded This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
