Selection Criteria Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the provision of evidenced based best practice speech pathology services that are consistent with Speech Pathology Australia's Code of Ethics. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver professional learning, for teachers and other relevant professionals, in the area of speech, language, communication and mealtime management. Demonstrated ability to use a range of assessments and to develop and evaluate intervention programs. Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with children, parents/carers, teachers, support staff, other professionals and agencies. Demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development, reflective practices and clinical supervision. Role The speech pathologist provides assessment, treatment and consultative services to students at BSS, and promotes capacity building for staff across the school. This includes academic areas and those related to speech, language, communication and safe swallowing skills.
Responsibilities Independently provide high quality standard speech pathology services (assessment, treatment and consultation). Apply evidence-based interventions, evaluate and modify interventions and report on outcomes. Provide documentation of speech pathology services provided. Work collaboratively to assist in establishing Individual Education Plan (ILP) goals. Communicate professionally with school staff, parents and external agencies. Conduct training and instruction to school staff. Attend required meetings. Develop a professional development plan. Adhere to privacy legislation and policies. Demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development. Qualifications: Essential:
Bachelor or Master Degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent
Eligible for Membership Speech Pathology Australia
Current Working with Children's Check type 'E'
Desirable:
Current Victorian Driver's License
