Grade 4 Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist – Behaviour Support An exciting opportunity for a Grade 4 Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist to provide behaviour support in an acute spinal cord injury ward as part of a TAC funded project Work within a supportive and highly expert team Part-time, 2 days per week fixed term position, flexible work arrangements available Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and state-wide. About the Psychology Department The Psychology Department leads and excels in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice. As a team of clinical psychologists and clinical neuropsychologists based in General Health, we work with a range of medical specialists and allied health professionals, collaborating to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. We are a dedicated team who value connection and collaboration and provide a supportive environment to learn and develop.
About the role This 15.2-hour (2 days) per week, fixed term 12-month Grade 4 position will provide positive behaviour support to inpatients in the Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS) at Austin Health as part of a funded Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Value Based Healthcare project. The senior clinical neuropsychologist will work collaboratively with the clinical and project teams, including VSCS leadership and Monash University to embed positive behaviour support into the unit.
The role will encourage teamwork amongst staff, enhancing their ability to support patients with behaviours of concern or emotional distress, reduce restrictive practices and improve patient outcomes. The role offers the unique opportunity to set up a service with support from key leaders and be part of research evaluation of the program. A regular day will see you:
Working collaboratively with VSCS clinical team, patients and close others to deliver all aspects of positive behaviour support on the ward, including developing behaviour plans and interventions; Design and deliver staff education and capacity building initiatives on positive behaviour support; Working closely with the project and research team; Support dissemination of project impacts internally and externally, including being part of conference presentations, reports and/or research publications. About you To be successful in this role you will have:
Current registration as a psychologist with AHPRA, and endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology At least 8 years of relevant clinical experience in providing neuropsychological services in health or hospital settings Extensive experience in providing behaviour support strategies and interventions for patients with a variety of health conditions High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement.
