Are you passionate about protecting cultural heritage whilst managing forest and fire operations? The Senior Forest and Fire Operations Officer - Cultural Operations is a skilled field-based role that will contribute to district-wide field operations delivery and works planning and will undertake Aboriginal heritage value assessment and protection when required. This position will be involved with identification, assessment, and protection of cultural heritage sites and values for delivery of operational activities in State Forest and National Parks.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise contractors and deliver site assessments to ensure program delivery standards across locations. Support field marking to protect cultural heritage values and assets. Maintain protection standards and supervise field staff, heavy plant operations, and contractors. Contribute to recruitment, development, and support of Aboriginal field staff. Engage with external partner groups, such as First Peoples and Traditional Owner communities. Minimum Requirements: Current manual Drivers Licence (conditions A, I & V not acceptable for employment). Demonstrated experience and understanding of cultural heritage values and works planning for forest management, road management, fuel management, and emergency preparedness and response. Experience in field-based identification, protection, and management of Aboriginal cultural heritage values. Additional Information: This position is ongoing and flexible within the Upper Murray District. Preferred candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening and complete the DEECA General Firefighter accreditation.
