About the Role
This is a Fixed Term, Full Time Position until 31 December 2025
The Senior Advisors, HSEQ & Risk are responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of safety strategies, frameworks and programs, and procedures to ensure SprayLine Road Services' proactive safety culture.

These positions report to the Associate Director, HSEQ & Risk and work collaboratively across the HSEQ & Risk team and operational delivery teams to support compliance with SRS safety obligations, and are accountable for:
Embedding transformation in Occupational Health & Safety across SRS including high-risk construction activities aiming to reduce and prevent workplace injuries and illness.
Driving the implementation and delivery of safety programs that focus on critical and key risks and ensure targeted proactive risk solutions according to SRS risk profile looking at safety data, industry data, and injury data.
Partnering with business and people services functions to support targeted evidence-based risk solutions including the analysis and reporting of relevant data to inform risk solutions and incident management and investigation.
These roles require high-level interpersonal and stakeholder management skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders across SRS, DTP, and external clients and suppliers.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
Improved Safety Culture – Contribute to a significant improvement in safety culture across the region by working collaboratively with the Health Safety Environment Quality & Risk Team within SRS through training staff, information sharing, promoting best practices, and conducting audit activities.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement – Drive and ensure the implementation of consistent, effective, and robust solutions that will assist in continually improving performance and compliance, achieving business objectives, and reducing financial costs including collaboration with SprayLine Road Services contractors.
Risk Assessments – Ensure safety risk assessments are completed for all works by working with project managers and site supervisors to develop their skills.
Assurance Activities – Perform assurance activities such as inspections, audits, and reviews of critical and key risks, and coach and mentor operational staff, leaders, and contractors to minimize safety and wellbeing risks.
Processes and Procedures – Develop processes and procedures that demonstrate legal compliance and support SprayLine Road Services staff and contractors to adequately assess and manage risk.
Safety Information Communication – Ensure safety information is communicated within the regions.
Health and Wellbeing – Promote and support safe, inclusive, and flexible team operations.
Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a skilled Senior Advisor, HSEQ & Risk to join our team.
This pivotal role will focus on leading health, safety, environment, quality (HSEQ), and risk management initiatives, driving continuous improvement, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (or working towards)Significant experience managing injuries & illness in construction, mining, oil & gas, aviation or similar.
Significant experience in contractor management in high-risk industries.
Good working knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and its application in a large and complex organization.
Driver's License.
Ability and willingness to travel and work across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant or related field.
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
