THE ROLE
The Principal Advisor works closely with the Director and Executive Director, Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness to respond to and deliver on a range of strategic projects and priorities. The position plays a key leadership role to support the delivery of outputs and reform opportunities for the branch.
You will lead key reform initiatives in a complex and dynamic environment, requiring capacity to exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with senior executives, and build relationships with key people across the department and relevant stakeholders for Homes Victoria.
You will develop, evaluate, and implement policy advice and initiatives at a strategic level in line with the priorities of the Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness branch. You will have demonstrable experience of being a critical and analytical thinker; being proactive and organised; and having excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project management skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
Manage and oversee the full life cycle of policy and project design to meet departmental objectives including: a) Leading research, analysis, and implementation of complex projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
b) Managing and overseeing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline, and budget parameters.
c) Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
Provide leadership, guidance, and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet, and agency submissions on complex matters. Identify and actively manage emerging issues and areas of risk and support the Executive Director to prioritise and progress urgent matters. COVID-19 VACCINATION
The department strongly recommends (but does not mandate) that employees maintain their COVID-19 vaccination status in accordance with current ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation) advice , given their individual circumstances. As of June 2023, DFFH does not require evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status.
