A demonstrated interest in working with young people and an ability to relate to them in a positive, respectful, and supportive manner.
Demonstrated high-level communication skills with a range of individuals and well-developed emotional intelligence.
Knowledge of DE policies and guidelines in relation to Inclusion and an ability to contribute to their implementation.
Demonstrated proficiency in literacy and/or numeracy up to VCE standard.
Experience in Education Support or Completion of Certificate IV in Education Support (or similar) would be an advantage.
Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth.
Role Learning Support staff are part of a team working with students with identified needs, to support their learning and wellbeing.
Direct supervision will be provided by the Learning Inclusion Co-ordinators and Assistant Principals.
The successful applicant must demonstrate a calm, caring, and respectful manner and model the school's core values to a high standard.
Learning Support staff generally work from 8.50am to 3.20pm, across 5 days per week, totaling 30 hours.
Responsibilities To support the implementation of a Learning Inclusion program for students with an Individual Education Program (IEP) who are recognized within the Tier 2 and Tier 3 DE funding criteria.
Specific tasks will include:
Working with the classroom teacher to implement the educational program as set out by the IEP/SSG.
Assisting students on an individual or small group basis.
Supporting the implementation of instructional programs.
Assisting with communication between students and teachers.
Observing students and bringing them to the attention of the teacher where necessary.
Preparing and submitting notes of observations, learning, and wellbeing.
Providing basic physical and emotional care for students.
Participating in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and individual student achievements.
Assisting with the liaison and communication between parents, teachers, and other staff.
Preparing basic curriculum resources as required.
Undertaking administrative tasks and attending meetings as required.
Participating in an annual performance review process.
