About the role Our Environment team provides strategic and practical solutions to clients with environmental management challenges.
We are currently seeking a Senior Marine / Aquatic Ecologist with marine or freshwater experience to join our team.
You will benefit from being part of a national Ecology and Environmental Services team that has industry experts across Marine, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology and a range of exciting projects across the Asia Pacific Region.
This role will ideally be based in our Sydney office (St Leonards), however Newcastle or Wollongong based candidates will also be considered.

Day to day tasks would involve: Displaying expertise in the fields of marine and freshwater ecology including experimental design and statistical analyses Planning, leading and implementing estuarine, marine and /or freshwater field studies Managing your own small to medium sized projects from end-to-end Undertaking desktop research Demonstrating a solid understanding of environmental legislation and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current industry standards, practices, environmental legislation and approvals processes Ensuring work output is of a technically high standard and activities are commercially viable Technical report writing utilising conventional standards expected for scientific reporting Acting as a professional mentor to junior staff and assisting with their professional development Assisting with the preparation and processing of tender documentation To be successful for this role you'll need: Tertiary qualifications in Marine or Freshwater Ecology / Biology, Marine Science or equivalent Qualifications and experience in scientific diving (or equivalent) and Coxswains certification desirable Strong knowledge and understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis Well-developed fieldwork skills including leading field teams with specific knowledge in intertidal, subtidal and offshore field survey methods Experience with the full tender process including drafting proposals and responding to RFQ's Knowledge of freshwater field survey methods such as electrofishing, AUSRIVAS protocols and macroinvertebrate identification desirable GIS and habitat mapping skills using Arc GIS or similar highly desirable Knowledge of NSW and Federal planning and environment legislation Strong commercial acumen to financially manage projects and seek out new opportunities Flexibility to travel occasionally Physical Requirements Position includes both office and field work and the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas for extended periods of time.
