Staff Specialist/Senior Staff Specialist - Anatomical Pathology A strong research and clinical improvement culture, we support more than 450 point-of-care testing devices, extending access to care in more places.
This role will assist in developing and implementing frameworks and strategies to continue the development of the state-wide Anatomical Pathology service as a single functional entity based on universal best practice and reflected through uniform standards and practices.
The advertised role will report to the Medical Director Townsville Laboratory and the Statewide Director Anatomical Pathology (based at RBWH) either directly or through appropriate reporting lines.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated contemporary knowledge, skills and ability in Anatomical Pathology, participate in the frozen section service, perform MDTs, and be able to participate in an after-hours on call roster, and a high level of professionalism required in the position, especially objectivity. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills necessary for all aspects of the position. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct relevant training, teaching, research, investigation, analysis and management Knowledge of the ISO 15189 and NATA Medical Testing Requirements demonstrating continued accreditation in your clinical specialty for all laboratories across a diverse network Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Mandatory requirements are a medical qualification and tertiary qualification in Anatomical Pathology (FRCPA, or equivalent) and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist Pathologist.
The incumbents must be Fellows of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or equivalent. Interstate and international healthcare workers who move to Queensland to work for Queensland Health may be eligible for a $10,000 incentive payment on commencement. You will also receive another $10,000 after completing a full 12 months of service in Queensland. On top of a generous base salary, medical practitioners also receive additional allowances including motor vehicle, professional development and retention and attraction (50% of base salary). In Townsville a rural retention and attraction allowance (5% of base salary) and locality allowance also apply to form the total salary.
