Job description: The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Medical Oncology is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Staff Specialist – Medical Oncology vacancy.

The right applicant/s will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.
The Role Provide a senior role in Medical Oncology and related services at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH). Provide inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of RHH in all aspects of Medical Oncology, including the RHH Medical Oncology outpatient clinic. Increase the RHH clinical services in Medical Oncology as required by the Head of Department. Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and to be actively involved in research. Salary Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $210,000 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $288,000 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award Details of Appointment Permanent, part-time day work (with on-call), working 22.8 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible from late December 2024.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies. Essential Requirements Holds specialist registration; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who is on the specialist pathway; or Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) who has a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the speciality.
