The Role
As a Staff Specialist in Palliative Care Medicine with us, you will:
Provide direct clinical care to patients and families referred to our Palliative Care Service, with a strong focus on community-based care.Utilise telehealth, conduct home visits, and manage outpatient clinics.Offer consultative services to Maitland Hospital and provide district-wide telehealth support as required.Address patients' concerns across physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual domains with sensitivity and expertise.Develop comprehensive care plans, including contingency planning, aligned with patient and family goals.Facilitate seamless transitions between care settings, including home visits.Become part of a dedicated Palliative Care multidisciplinary team made up of experienced nurses, allied health, administration and other medical specialists, plus the wider HNELHD network.
What You Bring Medical degree with eligibility for Specialist registration in Palliative Medicine with AHPRA.Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or the Australian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (or nearing completion).Recent experience in Palliative Medicine, ideally in a regional setting.Expertise in symptom management, particularly safe and effective medication use, including subcutaneous administration.Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity to support diverse patient and family needs.
