The Role
Inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for Staff Specialist – Geriatric Medicine positions within the Department of Geriatric Medicine. As a member of our dedicated team, you will provide comprehensive care to older adults across multiple sites across the city. Our department includes approximately 70 inpatient beds for acute and subacute care, covering areas such as acute care, Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), and rehabilitation services for patients with dementia-related symptoms. Additionally, we offer an at-home GEM service and are expanding our services with the development of a Perioperative Service (POPS) and plans to increase acute care beds for older patients. Geriatricians are offered a variety of services, including inpatient care, consultative services, and shared-care orthogeriatrics, along with outpatient clinics specializing in memory, falls, balance, movement disorders, and geriatric oncology. These services are supported by dedicated clinic nurses and work closely with the Community Rehabilitation Unit. You will provide both face-to-face and telehealth consultations to better meet patient needs. This role also offers opportunities to participate in regional Outreach clinics and engage in research initiatives. The department is committed to education, offering a comprehensive training program for undergraduates, postgraduate trainees, allied health professionals, and nursing staff. You will join a collegial team of 14 geriatricians, supported by 7 FTE registrar positions and other junior medical staff.
