Staff Officer to Assistant CommissionersQueensland Corrective Services (Organisation site)Regional Operations Command; Custodial Operations; BrisbaneThe Staff Officer to the Assistant Commissioner, Custodial Operations plays a significant role within the division by providing operational assurance and high-level advice on matters relating to each regional command.In addition, the Staff Officer will draw upon an extensive knowledge of the Custodial Operations division and its role not only within QCS but also the broader criminal justice system to analyse, problem solve and report on matters of strategic risk.The essential requirements for this role are:Extensive knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of high-level information on issues across QCS, particularly relating to Custodial OperationsThe ability to effectively assess and propose resolutions for complex matters which may ariseAbility to review a high volume of sensitive and complex correspondence and information and provide comprehensive analysis to inform decision makingAbility to build and manage working relationships with a range of stakeholdersAn understanding of the structure and objectives of QCS and its relationships with other organisations and agenciesInterpersonal skills for negotiating with internal and external stakeholders who often have competing interests, on sensitive and complex issuesSkills and experience in the preparation of reports and executive documentation within a government framework, with demonstrated professional writing abilitiesDetailed and current knowledge of Queensland Government and QCS policies and procedures, particularly relating to Custodial Operations, as well as a strong knowledge of relevant legislative and statutory requirementsCommunication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with staff at all levels, to negotiate service delivery outcomes, priorities, deadlines, and other relevant mattersAbility to work within an environment with high demand and strict deadlines and understand the confidentiality of the material they are exposed to on a daily basisOrganisational skills with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlines.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Further informationWe are committed to building inclusive cultures in the Queensland public sector that respect and promote human rights and diversity.Please ensure you download all attachments and follow the instructions on how to apply.
