Position Overview The Senior Hydraulic Engineer will play a critical role in managing and delivering hydraulic engineering solutions for complex projects.
This individual will be responsible for leading the design, planning, and implementation of hydraulic systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
With a focus on quality, sustainability, and efficiency, the Senior Hydraulic Engineer will contribute technical expertise, manage junior engineers, and collaborate closely with clients, project teams, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Project Management: Oversee and manage hydraulic engineering projects from inception through to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Design and Development: Lead the design of hydraulic systems, including stormwater drainage, sewer and water reticulation, rainwater harvesting, sanitary plumbing, and gas systems for various facilities. Sustainability and Innovation: Integrate sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting and water reclamation systems into designs, optimising resource efficiency. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and client specifications.
Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and calculations. Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering professional growth within the team. Client Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, presenting solutions, addressing queries, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout project delivery. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and structural engineers, architects, and contractors, to coordinate and integrate hydraulic systems within broader project frameworks. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks, audits, and inspections of hydraulic systems to ensure functionality and adherence to design specifications. Key Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in hydraulic engineering, with experience in consulting engineering preferred. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of hydraulic design software and industry standards. Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local and international codes and regulations related to hydraulic systems. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead projects and manage teams effectively. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client engagement and reporting. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering practical and innovative solutions. Desirable Skills Experience in specialised hydraulic systems such as greywater recycling, fire hydrant and sprinkler systems, and trade waste treatment. Familiarity with sustainable engineering practices and experience in Green Star or LEED projects. Registered or chartered engineer status with relevant professional bodies. Why Join?
