Speech Pathologist - Fulltime or Parttime (4 days per week) Join our team of dedicated, passionate allied health professionals and a team of four fabulous Speechies.
Your job will see you out and about visiting our residents in their homes. You can complete the reporting and administration tasks at home or our office. The Senior Speech Pathologist will support you to develop skills to assess and assist adults with a disability. You will help the individuals and support workers to manage symptoms of dysphagia and build communication competence.
You will collaborate with families, carers, and other therapists and team members to support participants to achieve their goals and a good life.
You will also be supported to prescribe and implement appropriate assistive technology in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). In addition, your role will also include providing training to support workers to develop their skills in mealtime support and as communication partners.
What you need: Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and a current practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.Sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to assessment and intervention for mealtime management and communication issues for individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities.Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills to underpin good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, families, and carers.Demonstrated ability to manage your workload, including the ability to problem solve, prioritise, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.Awareness and understanding of the National Disability Service Standards.Empathy and understanding of the needs and requirements of people with various disabilities and diverse backgrounds.Other requirements: A suitable, reliable vehicle.NDIS Workers Screen Clearance.Provide First Aid certificate (including CPR) with at least 6 months validity.Must hold Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia.Membership with SPA.
