About the Role
The Minerals Australia Tax Team is responsible for providing tax advice and managing all of the tax compliance and reporting obligations for the Minerals Australia Portfolio.

An exciting new opportunity exists for you to apply your tax skills and experience to support the management of Minerals Australia tax matters by ensuring exceptional delivery of all tax compliance and reporting obligations and supporting relationships with our regulators. You will also play a key role in supporting our offshore Global Business Services team to deliver accurate and timely information and ensuring the highest standards of governance and control across all processes.

Reporting to the Tax Manager Minerals Australia (West), your key accountabilities will include:
An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development. Working closely with the Tax Principal and other Tax team members to plan and execute the delivery of all local tax reporting and compliance obligations for direct and indirect taxes relating to the Iron Ore and Nickel companies, including and delivery of stewardship, and other key governance processes to key internal stakeholders. Collaborating on a day-to-day basis with the offshore Global Business Services teams (located in KL) to review all income tax, GST, royalty, and other tax outputs to ensure timely accurate lodgement of critical compliance obligations and payments. Developing and maintaining strong cooperative relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders including the onshore and offshore Finance teams and Asset Business Partners to facilitate understanding and management of tax issues impacting the relevant assets. Developing and maintaining strong cooperative relationships with Joint Venture Participants to support their direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations and assisting them to understand the key tax issues within the relevant joint ventures. Supporting relationships with Regional Tax Authorities including the management of queries and audits. Supporting the preparation of advice on the tax outcomes for material projects, including major capital expenditure investment cases; reviewing and analysing terms of commercial or other contracts with external parties. Assisting to maintain a robust governance and control environment in accordance with Group Tax standards & processes and Group Level Documents relevant to the area of responsibility. Supporting the broader continuous improvement objectives to drive process optimisation initiatives as well as the ongoing design and implementation BHP's digital strategy in the area of Tax. Supporting the culture of continual learning and development through training and sharing of knowledge. About You As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
Demonstrated post qualification practical experience with delivering end to end tax reporting and compliance processes within a large multinational organisation. Specialist knowledge of income tax, goods and services tax, WA royalties, fringe benefits tax, fuel tax. Experience delivering process improvement and change projects in a complex system environment. Sound knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting principles. MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI) and SAP S4 platform experience (desirable ). Location You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - 'City Square'. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues. 

You will be working on Monday-Friday roster. Flexible work is also offered.
