Job Description:
The Specialist Psychiatrist of Old Age at The RMH Older Adult Mental Health Program is a fractional/fixed term position (35hpfn) from 09 December 2024 to 16 June 2025.

Opportunity:
In conjunction with a dynamic senior medical staff team, the position will lead clinical service delivery models in older adult mental health at Waratah Clinic to maximise outcomes for service users. The Specialist Psychiatrist of Old Age will work in partnership with the relevant team managers and strongly promote safe, effective and efficient high quality, coordinated care for patients and their supporters.
The Specialist Psychiatrist will take a leadership role in working closely with the various internal and external health providers to ensure best clinical outcomes for our service users. The Specialist Psychiatrist will undertake the statutory responsibilities of the Delegated Psychiatrist as required under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.
The Specialist Psychiatrist will be employed within the Older Adult Mental Health Program of RMH Mental Health Services (RMH MHS) and may be required to undertake alternative duties at a range of different locations as directed by the MD and Director of Community Mental Health Services, RMH MHS.
About us:
The RMH Mental Health and Wellbeing Service provides a comprehensive, specialist and integrated range of services to people with a serious mental illness in the inner west part of Melbourne, including parts of the CBD. We have a multi-disciplinary workforce of 400+ staff providing mental health care across acute Inpatient Units, the RMH Emergency Department, Consultation-Liaison at RMH, mental health rehabilitation services (CCU/PARC) and Community programs.
The Older Adult Mental Health Program is an exciting recent addition to our service that provides integrated sub-specialist mental health services for older adults experiencing acute and/or complex mental health and ageing challenges.
About you:

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and with teams from diverse specialties.
Strive for the highest level of consumer-focused care at all times.
Ability to problem solve in a complex and ever changing environment.
Hold current registration with AHPRA.
Experience at the level of Consultant in older adult mental health.
