Specialist Medical Practitioner - PsychiatristAs part of a multidisciplinary mental health service delivering high-quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements, and relevant professional competencies, the Psychiatrist:
Provides a comprehensive general inpatient and community psychiatric service within the allocated service/site/facility.Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals and health service providers, including general practitioners and other agencies, with regard to the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with Psychiatric Registrars and other medical staff as required/appropriate.Details of Appointment: Permanent, full-time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary: Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum + 11.5% superannuation.
Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 - $301,349 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2, or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
Salary range is in accordance with Salaried Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.Allowances: Provision of a motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum.Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum.Relocation and commencement support available up to $15,000 for approved appointees.Allowance in lieu of participating in private practice scheme 35% of base salary (if applicable).Other allowances as applicable.Essential Criteria: Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role.
It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. Desirable Criteria: Recognition as a Psychiatrist by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), holding RANZCP Fellowship or equivalent.Current Driver's Licence.On Call Roster and undertake call back work.Pre-employment Checks: The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion, or transfer.
