About the RoleReporting to the Environment Superintendent Systems and Governance for Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO), you will be responsible for supporting WAIO's Operational team to deliver strong environmental performance through coaching, monitoring, verification and implementation of Asset-wide systems, processes, governance and plans.
Based in our Perth office, regular travel to the Pilbara region of Western Australia will be required to enable effective relationships with the operations you are partnering with.
In this role you will:
Management of the Environmental Legal and Obligations Register.Management of the Environmental Data Management system.Assist with the identification, design, and continuous improvement of Asset-level environmental standards, systems and procedures required to manage risks and opportunities, controls, legal obligations and Our Requirements.Contribute to maintaining and improving the Environmental Management System (EMS), including relevant aspects of ISO re-certification.Contribute to the development, coordination and maintenance of monitoring programs, management plans, risk assessments and operational procedures.Provide technical advice, coaching and support to internal and external personnel for management in legal compliance, risk and performance.Provide subject matter expertise into the design and establishment of environment standards, procedures and systems while facilitating and supporting line management for environmental risk assessments, event investigations, field leadership and compliance.Coordinate and execute internal and external audits, including Field Leadership activities, external assurance and internal Audit and Advisory (IAA) environmental audits.Provide support to site-based environment specialist and superintendents on technical capabilities and influencing positive change in environmental performance.Assist with the execution of relevant internal and external environmental reporting.About YouTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering or equivalent.Understanding of State and Federal Environmental Approvals.Ability to coordinate large scale audits for our mining operations.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Ability to build consultative and influential relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing business needs and experience in leading change.Well-developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills.Strong attention to detail along with strong business acumen.About Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
