The Opportunity:
The Language Program Lead / Linguist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing IBN language programs across the Yinhawangka, Banyjima and Nyiyaparli language groups. This role works closely with IBN Members and key stakeholders to ensure the success and sustainability of IBN led language initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong linguistic expertise, excellent project management skills, and a passion for language preservation and education.
The Role:
The Language Program Lead / Linguist can be based in Perth or the Pilbara:
Design and develop the IBN language program in consultation with key stakeholders.
Manage the implementation, evaluation and review of the IBN language program.
Effectively manage all project life cycle phases.
Manage workload to ensure that KPIs, milestones and deliverables are reached.
Conduct linguistic research to support program development.
Develop language resources, such as dictionaries and online materials.
Work closely with IBN Members to understand their language needs.
Facilitate workshops, training sessions and events to promote language learning and preservation.
Manage IBN Member feedback mechanisms to improve program effectiveness.
Collaborate with educators, language holders, linguists, and other professionals to enhance program quality.
Prepare reporting data of program progress and outcomes.
Maintain accurate program activity records.
Manage a "live" stakeholder engagement plan.
Contribute to the development and improvement of WHS and risk management initiatives and practices in the workplace.
Essential Candidate Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant and evidenced language development experience.
Experience with Aboriginal language.
Experience working with Aboriginal people and understanding Aboriginal Australian culture is essential.
National police clearance or ability to obtain.
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly.
Influencing and negotiating skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, project management and reporting skills.
Desirable skills, attributes and experience:
The ability to travel to Community is essential for this role.
C class drivers license.
