The Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) offers a supportive environment that values professional development and encourages growth in specialist areas like sexual violence counselling.
As a valued team member, you'll have access to ongoing training, professional supervision, and development pathways tailored to your career goals in trauma-informed practice and sexual violence counselling.Key Responsibilities:Specialist Counselling & Support:

Provide specialist attachment and trauma-informed family and individual counselling to adults and children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and family violence and/or sexual violence.
Provide dedicated counselling to clients aged 12 and over, including therapeutic intervention, case management, advocacy, and referral services.Trauma-Informed Family Therapy:

Offer individual and family therapy to mothers, children, and young people affected by domestic and family violence, with a strong attachment and trauma-informed approach.Community-Based Service Delivery:

Deliver counselling and support on-site or off-site as required, including potential school-based services in regional areas.Empowerment Through Group Work:

Facilitate group sessions for women, children, and young people affected by domestic and sexual violence, fostering a safe space for shared healing and growth.Collaborative Case Coordination:

Engage in case management and coordinate care to ensure comprehensive support across services and community networks.Safety and Crisis Intervention:

Perform risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis support for clients in critical situations, upholding their safety and well-being.Advocacy & Outreach:

Partner with service providers, collaborate in delivering joint programs, and advocate for clients within the broader community.What We're Looking For:Autonomous and Ethical Practice:

Skilled in working independently, you are ethical and driven, able to manage complex cases with sensitivity and professionalism.Commitment to Professional Growth:

This role is ideal for someone keen to expand their expertise in sexual violence counselling, with the support of a team that values growth and continuous learning.Collaborative Approach:

You will work closely with DVAC teams, external providers, and key stakeholders to deliver integrated support services.Qualifications & Experience:Tertiary Qualification in Counselling, Social Work, or a related field

with a minimum of 2 years' experience, ideally with a focus on trauma-informed practice, crisis support, and family violence.Strong Communication Skills

in advocacy, conflict resolution, and client-centred support.Developed experience and skills

in counselling and therapeutic support.Knowledge and skills

to ensure the provision of trauma-informed services to clients.Demonstrated understanding and experience

in working effectively with people (Adults and young people) who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic & family violence, sexual violence, or other significant trauma.Knowledge
